Hot off his loss in the electrifying match with Kenny Omega at NJPW’s Wrestlekingdom 12. WWE Legend Chris Jericho has seemingly set his sights on his next opponent – Tetsuya Naito.
Naito, himself, suffered a defeat at Wrestlekingdom 12 to Kazuchika Okada, missing out on capturing the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
Jericho lined up the angle by attacking the NJPW Icon during the company’s New Year’s Dash the following day, while Naito was in the ring with his stable mates from Los Ingobernables de Japon as they celebrated their victory over Chaos.
After attacking Naito from behind, Jericho was separated from Naito by The Young Lions, albeit only momentarily, as the two wrestlers attack one another again, with Naito doing his Tranqulio pose to further taunt Jericho, causing Y2J to pounce on him again. Security stepped in to separate the two, Jericho going to the outside of the ring to destroy tables, Naito remained in the ring, sitting with his back to Jericho.
While Jericho has yet to commit to NJPW long term and his name still being bandied about as a possible WWE Royal Rumble participant; this attack on Naito could indicate that this isn’t the last we see of Chris Jericho in NJPW.
