Border City Wrestling, headed by Scott D’Amore, came to Michigan with the mix of Impact stars, and the local Border City roster, Matthew McFarlin details five things we learned from the event.
5) Border City trio excites
The team of MM3 (Malcom Monroe lll), Aiden Prince, and Movado wowed the crowd with their unmatchable teamwork and spirit as they took on their villainous opponents with the crowd hot behind them. Movado’s unbeatable energy, MM3’s strive to succeed, and Prince’s high flying ability allowed them to take the win.
4) X-Division Talent impresses
Impact Wrestling’s X-Division talent certainly put on a great fatal four way at Motown Showdown. The star-studded match included “The Canadian Destroyer” Petey Williams, and Michigan favorites, Jimmy Jacobs, Gavin Quinn, and Hakim Zane. The four competitors showed the crowd what they were made of, in back and forth action. In the end, Petey Williams would perform the infamous Canadian Destroyer to pick up the win.
3) Laurel Van Ness’ woozy behaviour leads to victory
Laurel Van Ness’ opponent, Sienna, had to have thought this would be an easy victory. Van Ness would trip and slip into the ring which humored the BCW crowd. Frustrated, Sienna would attempt to attack Van Ness, but would unluckily fail due to the unpredictable style of LVN. During the match, Van Ness would hobble into the laps of a few ringside fans, and would finally get the win over former Impact Wrestling Knockouts champion, Sienna.
2) Border City Wrestling needs to find a better ring
There were many signs throughout the show that the ring was not going to hold up. When the VIP fans were let into the building before the show, the ring was still being set up. A couple of people tried running the ropes to test it, which made the ring creak and shake.
During the middle of the show, Braxton Sutter suplexed RJ City into the corner, which ultimately led to a 20 minute intermission where the crew scrambled to fix the ring. Finally, before the main event, another problem with the ring postponed the show until the match would eventually go on inside the loose ring.
1- Motown Showdown ends in chaos
Even with the on-going ring setbacks, the show had to go on. The main event of the night put Alberto El Patron, Johnny Impact, and Eli Drake inside a flimsy roped ring which looked to fall apart at any moment. But that didn’t seem to bother the competitors and referee as they all riled up the Michigan crowd by having an “Ultimate Warrior rope shake” competition. The battle soon broke out into the crowd, where all three men were brawling throughout the building, hitting each other with chairs and pizza boxes. Eventually, the match went back into the ring where the ref took a triple superkick from the Impact stars. The match would end in a no contest as all of the BCW roster and Eli Drake would retreat from the team of Alberto and Johnny. The night ended as Johnny Impact superkicked El Patron inside the broken BCW ring.
