Just one week on from WrestleMania, Vince McMahon announced that on Monday Night Raw (April 10th) would feature a ‘Superstar Shake=-up’.
The event was a miniature draft of sorts where superstars from both SmackDown Live and Raw as well as NXT could be switched to provide further entertainment to the main roster.
Three superstars were moved from the blue brand in the opening segment of the red brand last night, with further names set to be announced later tonight.
As of yet RAW has snatched up:
Dean Ambrose (Intercontinental Champion), formally SmackDown Live.
The Miz & Maryse, formally SmackDown Live.
Curt Hawkins, formally SmackDown Live.
Bray Wyatt, formally SmackDown Live.
Alexa Bliss, formally SmackDown Live.
Mickie James, formally SmackDown Live.
Heath Slater & Rhyno, formally SmackDown Live.
Also, Elias Samson lived up to his name as he, ahem, drifted onto Raw appearing on the entrance ramp prior to an eight an tag-team match, the 29-year-old recently lost a ‘loser-leaves-town’ match against Oney Lorcan on NXT.
More names are set to be announced tonight on SmackDown Live as the superstar shake up continues.
What do the moves mean for the future?
As of now, the landscape of the two brands looks heavily favoured towards Raw with the Cruiserweights, Intercontinental, United States, Raw Women’s and the Universal championship all at home on the red brand.
Saying this, it is likely that Bray Wyatt will not be winning his WWE Title match against Randy Orton in their ‘House of Horrors’ match at Payback as adding another belt to an already cluttered roster would diminish the title, making it second tier, unless Brock Lesnar and his Universal title make the grand switch to Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon’s brand.
It is likely that Kevin Owens and his US Title will be making the transition to Tuesday Nights to give the blue brand a secondary title and with several woman from SmackDown already making their way to Raw, more superstars from Monday nights are set to be wearing blue colours from now on.
Sasha Banks is one of the leading predictions to make the switch as is
Charlotte, although the only way to find out is to tune into SmackDown tonight.
