Today WWE has announced the news that Bayley has suffered a shoulder injury following her match with Nia Jax on Monday Night Raw.
The current number one contender to Alexa Bliss’ Raw Women’s Championship was evaluated by medics following the match where her injury was determined, yet due to the amount of swelling an official diagnosis was inconclusive.
WWE.com confirmed that the doctors have advised Bayley to rest her shoulder next week, allowing the swelling to be reduced so a firm verdict can be concluded after she is reevaluated.
“Everything just tensed up around it,” Bayley told WWE.com shortly after her match on Monday night. “I’ve never had an injury like this before, so I can’t really know what it is. I guess we’re gonna see.”
Dr. Chris Amann told WWE.com, “We’ve determined the injury is shoulder-related, and she will be going under further diagnostic testing later this week to determine the extent of the injury and also establish a timetable for recovery.”
Bayley is currently scheduled to take part in the upcoming SummerSlam event as she faces Alexa Bliss, but if the injury is too severe then plans could quickly change. Both Sasha Banks and Nia Jax would be the most obvious replacements should Bayley be unable to compete, but more details regarding the extent of Bayley’s injury will be revealed in the coming day’s on WWE.com.
